Aiming For An R&D Division That Remains At the Forefront of Industry
Nippon Ketjen operates a range of pilot test units to evaluate catalyst performance for a wide variety of feedstock and operation conditions. Dedicated customer tests conducted at operating conditions that match commercial units to evaluate specific cases; in some cases for the full catalyst life cycle. The results are evaluated with proprietary simulation models and customers receive recommendations to optimize their operation based on Nippon Ketjen’s extensive know- how and experience.
Nippon Ketjen conducts a wide array of oil analysis. Some are similar to the routine analysis commonly found in refineries for quality control. Others have a more sophisticated purpose, such as the analysis of reaction mechanisms. One example is “two dimensional gas chromatography (GC×GC)”. The figure on the left shows the detailed analysis for ultra low sulfur diesel (ULSD) reaction in a reactor.
Over 40 years of commercial operations and pilot plant testing have enabled NK to develop an extensive database of feed stocks and operating conditions from which catalyst performance and catalyst life can be accurately predicted, as is shown in this chart. It is this extensive know- how and experience that distinguishes Nippon Ketjen from other suppliers, especially for residue hydrotreating operations.
